Due to underwhelming lack of interest - namely exactly zero entries, the fanfiction contest has been canceled...
04/16/2005
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first ever shitennou fanfiction contest. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to write a story based on this interpretation of the swan lake legend.
The only rules are, it needs to be based on the tale, it needs to include a shitennou/senshi pair (unusual pairings are fine), and it should be at least 500 words. Multiple entries are perfectly acceptable.
The writing time is one month from today, followed by a one week grace period (for all of you who can't make deadlines) where the stories will be available to read, and a week of voting for your favorites on the forums.
The overall winner gets a pretty image to place on their website (if they have one), a spot in the featured stories section of the library, and if they so choose a short story written by me about any couple of their choice.
There will also be awards for most original, best characterization, most humorous, and best couple interaction. Prizes are a pretty image and bragging rights.
This message will self destruct.

Unfortunately there hasn't been as much participation or feedback regarding this library as I'd hoped for, I hope to change that however...
First, for anyone who doesn't know, November is national novel writing month. http://www.nanowrimo.org/ gives a brief overview of the idea... Starting on November 1 and running until November 30, lots of people try to finish a 50,000 word novel (actually, that's more of a novella, but I digress).
Well, although it really isn't intended for fanfiction, I do have a challenge for all visitors, authors, anyone who's looking at this site right now. I'd like at LEAST 30 people to sign up to participate in a Shitennou/Senshi Novel in 30 days "contest". That seems like a lot of people, but when you look at the number of people who write sailor moon fanfiction, the number of people on the messageboards, and the number of people who browse around just to visit this site, it is possible!
Here are the rules. You have to write a NEW story involving the inner senshi and the shitennou - romance is optional. By NEW I mean you cannot have any previous part of the story acutally written. You can have previous plot workups, backstory, etc. done. In fact, this kind of "pre" story work is encouraged. So you write a 50,000 word story between november 1 and november 30. That might seem like a lot, but remember this, Redemption averages 10,000 words a chapter, it could be five chapters long and qualify :)
Then you submit this story for counting - you don't have to post it if you think it sucks, you don't have to have anyone look at it but my word processor document when it does a word count. All "winners" - those who complete a story - will have a special page posted here on Shitennou. But I'd rather have every single one of you submit the story to the library, and think of all the great fiction you'll have to read for the next...three years or so.
I also know that doing lots of writing like this can be a challenge without some support, so I'd also like to set up some "writing groups" in the forums - private forums where you and other authors can hash out writing problems, get some beta reading done, and otherwise give support and encouragement during the writing procedure.
Want to get involved? Start writing a new story November 1st. Send the finished version to auroraeosrose at shitennou.com before december 3rd - no extensions. That's all you have to do! If you'd like to get involved in a writing group, register on at http://forums.shitennou.com and send me (auroraeosrose) a private message.
Looking forward to seeing you all participate!

We now have three stories in the archives and the members list is growing at a fairly steady rate. Anyone who is registered can comment(and give a star ranking) to stories as many times as they want. I think the authors here would really appreciate any user feedback you'd like to give. You have the option of making the comment private (meaning only the author will read it) and the author can reply to comments as well.
There are a couple of bugs still in the system, so feel free to give me a holler if you find something broken. Or if there's something you're dying to have the site do that it doesn't do yet. As far as design goes, it should work in all the major browsers, but I'm designing for firefox (see the pretty button at the bottom of the left hand bar?), which is lean, mean, and runs on just about everything. So if you're having lots of problems with the layout of the site, my advice is try upgrading your current web browser, or get a new one. Also Internet Explorer doesn't recognize print only stylesheets properly, so try turning off stylesheets if you want to print from IE (or get a real browser).
I'm considering adding in the ability to do html type things in textarea boxes (e.g. stories, the biographies on the profile pages, etc.). There are usually three ways to do this, - using straight html tags (which have to be very severely restricted because people abuse them), using bbcode style tags (which are currently on the message board) or using wiki style code. I personally prefer the wiki option, I'm not sure exactly what I'll do. Your opinions are very welcome!

No you're not losing your mind. This is a different look. Welcome to the new Shitennou Sailor Moon Fanfiction Library. This site is the result of a lot of hard work, some late nights, and my weird imagination.
This is a work in progress, meaning new things will be added all the time, hopefully improving the stability, speed, and functionality of the site. The forums are still available at http://forums.shitennou.com and will be until I integrate forums into this site. Old memberships from the forums are not carried over to this site, sorry.
If you have any questions, comments, or you find a bug or want a specific feature implemented, feel free to head over to the forums and speak your mind.
In the meantime, look around, sign up, use the library and have a great time.
This is a moderated library, meaning you must submit a short writing example to become an author, and all new books and chapters are screened by editors. This isn't to make it difficult to post, it's designed to keep the quality of fiction here at an acceptable level.
All we ask is some sort of plot, good grammar and spelling, and Sailor Moon characters in some way shape or form. So come authors, show us your stuff.
